“This recipe is great for anyone liking Brownies and Apples.”

I have being postponing to post this recipe, however every time I do at home, I have an intense desire to share this succulent, and healthy recipe.

These brownies are originally from Chef Jacques La Merde from IQ FOOD Co. in Toronto. This recipe is from his famous dessert menu.I have added some spices and have experimented with a different flavour of fruits, like adding pieces of apple or pear. Either way, this dessert can make kids eat their protein and still look for more.

Ingredients:

1 large sweet potato
1 cup natural almond butter
1/4 cup maple syrup or raw agave
1 cup of unsweetened applesauce
3 tsp chia seeds
1/2 cup of cocoa powder
1/2 cup of chocolate chips or small pieces of fresh green apple.
2 tsp baking soda.
3/4 sea salt
1/2 tsp cardamom.
1/2 tsp of chilli.
1/2 cinnamon.

Procedure
1.- preheat the oven to 350F
2.- Roast the potatoes until soft for 45 minutes, let it cool and peel the skin, mash them in a soft paste.
3.-Reduce the heat at 325F. line a rimmed 9X9 inch baking dish with parchment paper.
4.- In a large bowl, cream together the mashed potatoes, almond butter, sweetener, applesauce, make a soft paste.
5.- Pour all dry ingredients on top. Combine well with a spatula but don’t overmix.
6.- Bake for 26 minutes, them remove from oven and let it cool. Gently remove from the dish, wrap tightly in plastic wrap and freeze for an hour or so. With a hot knife cut the brownies. Serve chilli or at room temperature.
