“The New Canada Food Guide brings more emphasize on healthy eating at home and how we eat.”
Health Canada released the revised Canada Food Guide (CFG) in January with many changes – more plant-based food, more fruits and veggies, less meat and dairy and water as the main drink of choice. And yes, there are no longer specific serving sizes listed. Dairy is listed under the sub-section of Foundational Food.
Health Canada refused to meet with lobby groups in preparing this new CFG and has also put more focus on ‘How to Eat’. Here is a snapshot view of the new food guide.
Sarah Remmer, Canada’s Child & Family Nutrition Expert had this to say about the new guide. “After 13 years of practice as a Registered Dietitian, I might finally start using Canada’s Food Guide as a trusted tool and resource.” She talks about the 5 reasons that she is using this new food guide.”
